Reminder for Arrival Procedures:
•Students may not be dropped off before 7:15. The building opens promptly at 7:15 for students; staff does not provide supervision prior to that time. Please do not drop off and leave until the staff opens the front doors for students. *If your student is a walker, please make sure they are not arriving before 7:15 unless you or a responsible adult is with them. *We have students being dropped off in the dark before 7:15, with no supervision - please stay with your child until we open the doors at 7:15.
•At 7:15, students may enter the building and go to the cafeteria if they want to eat breakfast, or the gym to line up with their grade level. •At 7:30 the first bell rings and teachers open their classroom doors to greet students.
•Visitors are not allowed in the building for arrival unless they have a scheduled meeting with a teacher or admin, or it is their child's first day of school. Our students are doing a great job walking independently to their classrooms!
We use a double drop-off lane in the morning to help keep traffic moving. If you prefer to walk your child to the front doors, please use a parking space and walk with your child to the crosswalk at the front drop-off line. We have a crossing guard (usually our counselor Mr. Guerin) to help everyone cross safely.
For safety, please do not allow children to walk through the parking lot by themselves. With cars entering, backing out, and moving through the drop-off lanes, even our older students need an adult with them when walking through the parking lot. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe and ready to learn each morning! |
Students who are walkers are dismissed at the 3:00 bell. If you are meeting your child at the walker release area, please be there no later than the 3:00 bell. Adults picking up students that are car riders must have their student’s dismissal tag displayed on the rear view mirror or dashboard. No pictures will be allowed. Adults without a dismissal tag will be asked to park and take their driver’s license to the front desk to confirm they are an adult with permission to pick up the student(s) this is any adult listed as emergency contact. Once the last car in line has been called by 3:15 p.m., any adult arriving after 3:15 will need to come to the building with their car tag to pick up their child. Our staff members need to return to their classrooms to prepare for the next school day, and teacher contract hours end at 3:30 p.m. We appreciate your help in arriving on time and keeping our dismissal process running smoothly! |
TARDIES BEGIN AT 7:41am Learning begins at 7:40AM and we need our students in class every minute to reach their highest potential.
Phone calls and attendance intervention plans will begin to be implemented for families frequently arriving late or who have excessive absences. Thank you for your support and partnership in helping our students being ready to learn each day! Absence Notes:
Every student absence needs a note from parent/medical personnel and those notes are submitted via the following link https://forms.dentonisd.org/Forms/absence-note .That link can also be found on our Alexander Elementary website.(Go to Resources, then School Absence Note)
It is Texas Law that students attend school every day, and documentation is required when students do not attend school.
Contact our Attendance Clerk Arlene Gibson agibson3@dentonisd.org at 940-369-3500 with any questions about attendance and absence notes. |
If you are planning to come visit your child at lunch this year, we ask that you hold tight to the following expectations:
Make sure to sign in at the front office to receive a visitor's pass.
Enjoy time in the cafeteria only - for safety reasons, visitors may not walk through hallways during the school day if signed in for lunch. Only share food with your child to maintain health and safety for all students. You may also only sit with your child during the lunch period other students may not join. We will be dismissing parents five minutes before lunch ends due to clean up/line up. |

Dear Denton ISD Parents and Guardians, As part of our commitment to supporting your child’s education, we want to share important information about Denton ISD’s Chromebook initiative and insurance options. Our goal is to ensure every student has the digital tools and resources needed for learning. Chromebook Distribution Denton ISD provides students with access to Chromebooks to support teaching and learning. Distribution, checkout processes, and whether devices remain on campus or travel between school and home are determined by each campus based on instructional needs. Families will receive campus-specific information directly from their school.
Device Insurance To help families manage the cost of accidental damage or loss, Denton ISD provides insurance coverage for each Chromebook: Annual coverage is up to $200 in repairs.
Families are responsible for costs that exceed the $200 annual limit.
Insurance payments must be made in full before applying to current repairs.
Repairs use only Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts for quality and compatibility. The most common repair is screen damage, typically ranging from $20–$85 depending on the model. Families are charged only for the cost of parts, not labor. Certified Technicians
Our Campus Support Technicians are Dell certified and have received an additional 15 hours of specialized Chromebook repair training. This ensures repairs are completed quickly and to the highest standard. Learn More and Make Payments
